About us
Koorimunication Consulting is an Indigenous-owned consultancy, established in Australia in 2008 where we been providing indigenous consulting services to Government, Corporate, and Community sectors.
Our logo represents our ‘grass roots’ from which we deliver genuine cultural expertise.
Koorimunication aims to help clients attain a practical and measurable difference in the lives of Aboriginal people. We achieve it by working with you in assessing where you are at, develop strategies to address your needs and help to implement them in a sustainable manner.
How can we help?
Our experience facilitating cultural awareness programs will help you achieve a culturally competent workforce, leading to better communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving in your workplace.
Our expertise with inter-cultural communication means we can bring Aboriginal organisations together with government and non-government organisations to communicate more effectively.
Our community network means we can connect your organisation with Aboriginal organisations, such as local Land Councils, Elders’ groups or housing companies.
Creating better inter-cultural communication within organisations, and between organisations, is our core strength. We are committed to working with you to make a positive and measureable difference in the lives of Aboriginal people, and your communication with them.
Koori
refers to the indigenous Australians that traditionally occupied modern day
New South Wales and Victoria.
Koorimunication means we deliver effective communication between Aboriginal people and their communities, and Government and Corporate organisations like yours. Our services include: Cultural Awareness training, Aboriginal Community engagement and development, Aboriginal recruitment and mentoring programs, advisory services, and assistance with Cultural Policy Development.
What we do
The first step to increasing the cultural competence level of your organisation is participating in our positive impact Cultural Awareness training. In an atmosphere that makes it comfortable to ask questions, participants learn how to reduce misunderstandings in etiquette and behaviours and achieve great working relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal team members. Our workshops are designed to give people the confidence and tools for better communication.
Communicate and engage more effectively with the Indigenous Community. Our expertise in facilitation and knowledge of cultural protocols allows government, corporate and Aboriginal Australians to communicate with shared meaning and respect. Koorimunication can help your organisation connect with representatives from Indigenous urban or regional communities, Indigenous land councils, Elders’ groups, housing companies, or family services.
All types of organisations use Reconciliation Action Plans – schools, universities, corporations, government departments, and media outlets. A RAP is an organisation’s commitment to a long-term course of action to improve opportunities for Indigenous Australians. RAPs are based around cultural understanding, relationships, respect, and opportunities. They might include: employment targets, Indigenous Cultural Awareness training, the use of appropriate cultural protocols, staff events such as ‘talking days’, Workplace Giving Programs, and taking an active role in Indigenous celebrations such as NAIDOC Week, Reconciliation Week, Sorry Day or Mabo Day. A RAP is unique to each organisation and helps employers and employees play a meaningful role to improve the lives of Indigenous peoples.
Aboriginal recruitment and job preparation programs benefit the individual, the team, and your organisation. Koorimunication can help reduce the time and cost involved for large organisations to recruit, evaluate, and place Aboriginal candidates into traineeships, or employment. We can help you develop a practical employment strategy to attract and retain high-quality team members.

Koorimunication provides Indigenous advisory and facilitation services to improve dialogue between Government, Corporations, Aboriginal community leaders and Indigenous organisations. We can add value to your strategic planning, and find solutions to strategies that aren’t producing satisfactory results. We can facilitate directly with stakeholders or act in a purely advisory capacity.
Mentoring benefits your mentee, the mentor, and the organisation. Aboriginal Mentoring is an effective way for Aboriginal employees to understand their role – and the internal processes of your organisation. Our mentoring approach is designed to help Aboriginal workers increase their confidence, skills, and productivity, and help them contribute in an inclusive and meaningful way.

Government
Successful Aboriginal community engagement is central to government policy targeted at Closing the Gap and overcoming Indigenous disadvantage.
Koorimunication specialises in Indigenous consultation, facilitation and cultural competency services between Government and the Indigenous community.
Koorimunication has track record helping Government departments achieve an appropriate level of cultural competency for staff through Cultural Awareness training, or through the development of a Reconciliation Action Plan that achieves whole-of-organisation competency.
Reconciliation Action Plans can be customised to help enable Government’s commitment to economic participation through sustainable employment and business ownership.
Corporate
The Australian corporate sector is well-placed to offer training and employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and to increase its participation in Closing the Gap. Koorimunication can help you with the implementation of your Reconciliation Action Plan or ‘RAP’. A RAP is a strategic plan that outlines an organisation’s commitment to providing opportunities for Aboriginal people.
This is your first step to build relationships between your organisation and Indigenous employees, businesses and community organisations.
Koorimunication can help you and is well placed to help build those relationships by helping you develop a Reconciliation Action Plan that is actionable and that fits your workplace. We help you design it and implement it.
A successful RAP offers inclusion and opportunities for Aboriginal people, and participation in Closing the Gap.
Community
Koorimunication simplifies the communication between government and Aboriginal community organisations and enable actionable and timely decisions for all groups.
We are effective because we understand the range of government processes. And, as importantly, we understand the diversity of Indigenous community groups. We have experience liaising with community based organisations such as Land Councils, Aboriginal Housing organisations, and community leaders.
As an Indigenous-owned enterprise, we have the connections, and we are sensitive to culturally appropriate protocols. We can work with Government and the Indigenous community to achieve positive and sustainable relationships between all stakeholders.
Koorimunication has the right approach and the right experience – together we can make a difference
Thanks Julie for an enjoyable, thought–provoking, collaborative and informative time had by all!
